Side Markers, Reflectors & Components
This collection supports the Electrical system by covering the exterior side visibility subsystem used to mark the vehicle’s width and improve side-angle visibility. These components work with the vehicle’s lighting circuits or reflective safety features to ensure the body edges remain visible to other drivers, particularly in low-light conditions.
This category applies to 1932-1972 Passenger, 1939-1970 Mercury, 1932-1979 Pick Up vehicles.
Side marker lights and reflectors are mounted along the front fenders, rear quarter panels, or pickup bed sides depending on body style and model year. Unlike forward lighting systems, these components serve a positional function rather than illumination of the road surface. When wired into the vehicle lighting circuit, side marker lights operate with the parking light system. Reflectors function without electrical input and rely on reflected light to mark the vehicle’s outer edges.
This collection includes front fender reflectors with Ford script, front side marker light assemblies, rear quarter side marker lights, and their supporting installation components. Lens bezels, mounting pads, lens gaskets, sockets, and housings all contribute to correct installation and weather isolation at the body panel. Each component helps maintain the mechanical and electrical integrity of the marker light circuit while protecting the lens and reflector assemblies from vibration and moisture intrusion.
Proper installation matters because these parts mount directly to exposed body panels where sealing and alignment affect both durability and appearance.
Technical & Fitment Details
Side marker systems operate either as illuminated marker light or as passive reflectors depending on the vehicle design and production year. Illuminated side marker lights connect to the parking light circuit within the Electrical system and require both a housing and a side marker light socket to supply power to the bulb.
Front side marker lights mount in the front fender area and typically consist of a lens and housing assembly secured with a front fender side marker lens bezel. Rear quarter marker lights follow a similar structure using lens bezels, mounting pads, and gaskets to isolate the assembly from the body panel and prevent moisture intrusion.
Pickup beds may use side-of-bed reflectors mounted with dedicated reflector pads that protect the painted surface while maintaining reflector alignment.
Common service issues involve deteriorated gaskets, cracked lenses, and corroded sockets. Socket corrosion can interrupt the lighting circuit, while hardened mounting pads often allow water intrusion behind the housing.
Fitment will vary by model year.
Inspect the lens, bezel, and socket components together when servicing side marker assemblies to maintain proper sealing and electrical contact.
