Body & Cab Webbing
Within the Chassis & PU Bed system, body webbing and anti-squeak materials form an isolation layer between body panels, frame rails, and mounting brackets. This category supports 1932-1972 Passenger, 1939-1970 Mercury, 1932-1979 Pick Up applications where the body structure must sit securely on the chassis while preventing metal-to-metal contact between mounting surfaces.
During original assembly, Ford used webbing, liners, and felt strips at various body mounting points and panel joints. These materials created controlled spacing between the body and frame while reducing vibration, squeaks, and wear where structural components meet. Without this separation layer, the body mounts would transfer movement directly into the sheet metal structure.
After decades in service, these materials are commonly deteriorated, compressed, or missing entirely. Restoration projects frequently uncover cars where earlier repairs omitted webbing or substituted incorrect materials. Once the isolation layer disappears, body mounts can begin rubbing against the frame, panel seams may shift slightly, and small squeaks often appear during driving.
Replacing the webbing and anti-squeak materials restores the original separation between body structure and chassis components.
The Body & Cab Webbing subsystem provides isolation and spacing between body components and the frame within the Chassis & PU Bed system. These materials prevent metal-to-metal contact while helping maintain correct body mounting alignment.
Body To Frame Webbing runs along frame mounting surfaces where the body structure sits on the chassis. This webbing distributes contact across the mounting area while reducing friction between the body mounts and frame rails. For installations where adhesive mounting is required, Stick-on Body To Frame Webbing allows webbing to remain positioned during assembly.
Additional anti-squeak materials are used at panel joints and mounting areas. Anti-Squeak/Welting/Webbing and Felt Anti-squeak provide separation between adjoining body panels or brackets where movement could create noise or wear.
At certain mounting locations, Body To Frame Rubber Liner pieces provide localized isolation between body structure and frame surfaces. A Body To Frame Clip With Nut secures body panels or mounting components where threaded attachment points are required.
When body alignment adjustments are necessary, Body Shimming Material may be used to fine-tune body height at mounting points.
Wear typically appears as compressed webbing, brittle felt strips, or missing liners. Once these isolation layers deteriorate, body mounts can begin rubbing directly on the frame and produce vibration or squeaks during operation.
